Domestic animal control services in the City of Santee are provided by the San Diego County Department of Animal Services on a contractual basis.  These services include: dog licensing, rabies vaccinations, microchip pet identification, low-cost spay and neuter referrals, pet adoptions, patrol and investigation of animal violations, lost and found services, pet ownership training, and pet care & behavioral tips. 

The Santee Sheriff's Department responds to barking dog complaints while the City of Santee, Public Services Division handles dead animal removal.  

State and federal governments as well as private organizations have the expertise, materials and programs to assist residents with coyotes and other wild animals.
