Election results 2012.

The City of Santee is a Charter City governed by a five-member City Council. A Mayor and four Council Members are directly elected at large to a four-year term. Municipal Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of even-numbered years. The next Election will be held on November 6, 2012 to elect one Mayor and one Member of the City Council.

The City Clerk is the Elections Official and coordinates municipal elections with the San Diego County Registrar of Voters Office. This includes preparation of resolutions calling for elections and declaring results, issuance and acceptance of candidate nomination papers, processing of ballot measures and petitions, posting and publication of legal notices, and receiving all campaign and conflict of interest filings as required by the Fair Political Practices Commission [FPPC].

To qualify as a candidate for Member of the City Council, an individual must be a registered voter and a resident of Santee. Nomination papers, obtained from the City Clerk, must contain the signatures of at least twenty (20) registered voters from Santee and must be filed with the City Clerk's Office by the close of the nomination filing period. The filing period is 8:00 a.m. July 16, 2012 through 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2012. If an incumbent does not file, the filing period for non-incumbents will be extended to 5:00 p.m. August 15, 2012.
